Danielle feels the need to create something everyday. As a child, she enjoyed trips to the arts and craft store in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was encouraged by her mother (and Bob Ross) who bought paint sets, an easel and canvas for the young artist. A love of art lead to a bachelor’s degree in Art History. As an illustrator and painter, Danielle showcases and teaches watercolor, acrylic, oil and mixed media art. She spent seven years teaching art at a private school, kindergarten through high school. For four years she worked with adults and children in her studio based art school in Occoquan, Virginia. The space become home to those looking for art instruction and stress reduction. With an MA in Artistic Meditation, she sees the healing and meditative nature of the creative process, believing that there is comfort in making the art and the skills that grow and develop over time. Danielle is also a Certified Zentangle Teacher. Zentangle is a mindful method of drawing meant to provide focus and relaxation and enhances the Red Art + Living mantra “Draw, Paint, Meditate.”
Danielle began her career in the event industry as a corporate event manager and quickly became known for her artistic style and ability to design spaces that allow clients to be fully engaged in the moment. They appreciated her organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changing environments quickly. Looking to develop her brand, she began wedding planning and was drawn to the personal connections she found with couples. She is a Certified Floral Designer and considers flower arranging a form of sculpture. Red Art & Design offers event and floral design services with a history in large corporate and political meetings, cocktail receptions and small weddings. After years of cooking for her family and friends she expanded her services as a personal chef. Currently, she is a corporate chef for Norfolk Southern Corporation. Her style of cooking comes from being a mother, eat healthy but enjoy some traditional comfort food on occasion.
Danielle’s health journey began after the birth of her son. She lost weight through planning her meals and exercise, eventually becoming a certified personal trainer and physical education teacher at a private school in Virginia. Danielle is a Certified Yoga Teacher that is registered through the Yoga Alliance, 200-Hour program, and a Certified Barre Trainer. She is currently enrolled in two advanced yoga education programs. Yoga Medicine is an anatomy based 1000-hour program that looks to intertwine western medicine and yoga. Danielle is also working towards an 800-hour yoga therapy certification through Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy School. Yoga Therapy offers a personalized private yoga practice for clients looking for comfort from “dis-ease” by increasing an individual’s pain free range of motion and promoting a consistent meditation and movement practice. Both programs will enhance Danielle’s ability to work one-on-one with clients and their healthcare provider in order to find a yoga practice that is a therapeutic compliment to medical care.
Danielle is married and has a blended family with four children and two grandchildren. When she isn’t working she is painting in her home studio, has an extensive reading list to work through and enjoys time with her husband spent walking, kayaking and obsessing over their Netflix watch list. Music is a big part of her life (her workout clients call her “The DJ”) and she loves to sing and dance. She plans to learn to play the guitar and read music in the future.
